Austria´s Climbing Aces Focus on World Cup Start and Events at Home

Shortly before their starts at the first Boulder-Climbing World Cup event in Chongquing, China, Austria´s top climbers Anna Stoehr, Jakob Schubert & Co. looked optimistic. In particular the athletes, sponsored by TENCEL®, are looking forward to the world cup events in Kitzbuehel and Innsbruck, both of which are in Austria.

Allez 2013: Chongqing starts off the IFSC Climbing World Cup season on March 22th/23th!

The long wait for all sport climbing fans has finally come to an end: as of the end of March, the IFSC Climbing World Cup is back! 2013‘s kick-off event directs all eyes to Eastern Asia. The world’s best Boulder and Speed athletes are meeting in Chongqing, China, to compete in the first two contests of the brand-new season.

After the season is before the season – true to this motto the IFSC World Cup climbers spent their winter months mostly on regeneration, preparation, training and the one or other rock climbing project. On March 22th they’ll be finally back to their competition business. Two contests in both Speed and Boulder disciplines mark the beginning of the season for Anna Stoehr, Rustam Gelmanov, Alina Gaydamakina, Stanislav Kokorin (winners of the IFSC Overall World Cups 2012) & Co.. The only absentee among the world’s best sport climbing athletes in Chongqing will be Kilian Fischhuber. Austria’s record Boulderer will start his competition year from April, when a European tour is leading the World Cup followers to stops in Millau (FRA), Kitzbühel (AUT), Log-Dragomer (SLO) and Innsbruck (AUT). After two more contests in Toronto (CAN) and Vail (USA) in June, Munich will again be the venue of the great Boulder final event at the end of August.

Top favourites at Chongqing IFSC Boulder world cup are the Austrians, Anna Stoehr and Jakob Schubert, as well as the Russian world cup winner 2012, Rustam Gelmanov.

 

Start of Climbing World Cup Series 2013 in Chongqing/China

The Austrian Climbing Association will start their world cup series 2013 in the Chinese city of Chongqing presenting many highlights. Austrian climbing champions Stoeht, Schubert & Co. will have their focus on major climbing events in Austria in the upcoming season, as with Kitzbuehel/Boulder, Innsbruck/Boulder, Imst/Lead Climbing and the Youth- and Junior-European Championship 2013 four major climbing events will happen in Austria.

World Cup Finals 2012: Jakob Schubert Climbs to Victory with TENCEL®

On the last boulder-climbing parcour for 2012 in Kranj, Slovenia, Austrian climber, Jakob Schuster – sponsored by TENCEL® – was able to defend his world champion title of last year by winning the day´s competition. In the ladies´classification, Johanna Ernst scored rank six in Kranj, thus earning her third rank in boulder climbing for 2012.

Shower of Medals for Austria´s New Generation of Climbers in Singapore!

Two gold, one silver and three bronze medals are the reward for Austria´s new generation of climbers at the Youth and Junior Championship which took place in Singapore in the first weekend of September. The young athltetes, sponsored by TENCEL®, were able to score in many disciplines: Georg Parma from Lower Austria was among the winners, Hannah Schubert from Tyrol managed to defend her world championship-title. Further winners: Jessica Pilz, Katharina Posch and Magdalena Roeck, who are now, with a silver and a bronze medal in their pockets, preparing for the world championships in Paris.

The Jungle Jam Event that took place in Voecklabruck/Austria – the participating athletes were equipped with TENCEL® T-shirts – features competitions in freeruning, parcour, gymnastics, sports aerobic and other trend sports.
